-Daniel Radcliffe
Doing something new doesn’t have to be a big something.
Daniel Radcliffe was talking about taking on new dramatic roles that stretch his skills. As powerful as that can be, a challenge doesn’t have to be that big to see things in a new way.
Not too long ago, I learned a new way to sort puzzle pieces. It changed how I see puzzles and how I look for solutions.
Travel is also eye-opening. The first time I went to Europe, I was overwhelmed by how old everything is. Steeped in tradition, reflective of past generations, highlighting having overcome the more difficult times we, as a country, had yet to face.
I came away with a new curiosity about how the rest of the world sees things, including us, including me. How much do I carry with me that is waiting to be challenged?
I have a suggestion.
For the next thirty days, try doing something new. The harder it is, the more it needs doing. Start gently and work up to something harder: from sorting puzzle pieces to travel. Surprise yourself. Learn about yourself. Learn about others.
Learning something new changes how I watch movies or television. I look more at the symbolism and where it might have come from. I don’t have to agree with it, but noticing it is a huge learning curve.
Your turn. What have you learned lately that was new? What will you try next?
