As children, we are taught manners, how to fit in, right from wrong, what God expects of us, and how to act. We learn what we must do to be acceptable.
Whether the intention is safety, love, societal norms, or salvation, parents, teachers, and religious figures hold sway over the construction of our sometimes prison. That may sound harsh, but so many of my adult clients live in this childhood construct.
It shows up in fear, self-loathing, denying one’s gifts, depression, the need for external acceptance, or victimhood.
While they may not have built the prison, they have seen to its maintenance and long-standing in their lives.
I had a pretty good childhood. I count my blessings every day. Still, there were opinions and religious rules that kept me down, kept me small. But one day, I looked around and decided that the smaller version of me wasn’t working for me.
When I decided to let go of those opinions and limiting beliefs, I found that no one was there to stop me. Imagine my surprise! My relief!
That is when I understood that I alone hold the key to my freedom.
How are the stories and self-limiting truths holding you back? Do you wish to find the key to unlocking greater success as exactly who you are?
I would love to help you on that journey. It all begins with a discovery call.
Mary
