It’s been a family-and-friends-filled holiday season. I feel blessed, happy, and oh-so-very glad to be home. (Nothing feels as good as one’s own bed.)
This used to be my favorite week because the kids went back to school. Finally, I could get something done.
Now it is my favorite week because the people-y things are over, and so many demanding deadlines have passed.
Strangely, as an extrovert, I find myself feeling introverted. Fewer people, please. Okay, no people. But just for a little bit.
Last year was a year of losses, transitions, and plenty of reasons to worry. This year may hold more of the same; one never knows. That is why it is so important to take this time to catch one’s breath.
I plan to be of service in 2026, dedicating my time to things I care about and to which I can bring my best skills, a lifetime of learning, and to returning much of the grace offered me over the years.
But first, I ground.
I am turning down the fire and air, turning up water and earth elements. A hot bath with crystals, a good book with tea, an old movie and a blanket. Then, I say, “Bring it on.”
How will you start this year? Are you off and running already? Are you unsure? Did 2025 follow you here?
There is no right answer. I only encourage you to honor your needs to respond thoughtfully as you head into this next chapter.
If you’d like to peek at your upcoming year, I can help you with that so you can better prepare your response.
Mary
