Our souls go through developmental stages that mimic our human development.

New souls make statements like this one from Elon Musk.

“The fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy.”

Thinking of empathy as a weakness aligns with toddler rules where “everything is mine.” Toddlers are only concerned with amassing comforts and tangible items. New souls are stuck in the toddler stage. The most recent examples are the billionaires leading the world right now. They are, at their core, greedy, just like a toddler.

Older souls are also easy to spot. They volunteer, donate, comfort, and are concerned about others, including strangers. Old souls have boundaries and empathy. They understand the concept of “enough”.

There are many definitions of a new soul, but for today I am saying they are new to this experience as a human or to a specific lesson. We all get running attempts (incarnations) to learn a lesson. We start as new and grow old, although most of us will not have experienced enough wealth to nurture the world and refuse to do so. Greed wears many masks.

If you are concerned about the state of the world on your behalf as well as for others who might be left behind, you are an older soul. If you are afraid of strangers, immigrants, anything that makes you feel like you have to make room, causing you to lose something in doing so, you are a newer soul. Sharing is a part of your lesson in this lifetime.

None of what I’ve said here is meant to shame, only to help us to decipher where we are and about those around us are.

The most important thing to remember is that there is always enough to go around. It’s a matter of will and maturity.
